Peer Review Process

The article sent to the Journal of Community Development Analysis (JoCDA) will go through two review processes, namely pre-review and review. The managing editor does the pre-review process of the article and includes:

  1. Focus and Scope: The article being sent should be within the journal's scope. The article outside the scope of the journal will be declined.
  2. Plagiarism Check: Plagiarism checks and article similarities are done using Turnitin or Itenticate, with a maximum score of 20%. Articles with a similarity check above 20% will be returned to the writer for revision.
  3. References: references used in the article are a minimum of 10 references consisting of 80% primary and 20% secondary sources. References use APA style and are made by using references managing software like Mendeley.
  4. Template: the submitted article should follow the template of the Journal of Community Development Analysis, which can be seen and downloaded here.

If there is something not following the four components, then the article will be returned to the writer for revision. The writer is given time for seven days to revise the article and send it back.

When the four components in the review process are fulfilled, then the article will continue to be reviewed by the reviewer through the editor. The substances review process is done by two reviewers in Double Blind Peer Review. The reviewer can give recommendations such as:

  1. Accept Submission: The article is accepted to be published without having substance revision.
  2. Revision Required: the article with minor revision, the article is sent to the writer to be revised (when the writer has sent the revision, the article can be accepted to be published)
  3. Resubmit for Review: The article needs major revision. After the writer does revision, the article is resubmitted to the reviewer to be reviewed again ( maximum three times resubmitted); if the article is not quite right in substance after the fourth review, then the reviewer is allowed to give a recommendation as Decline Submission.
  4. Resubmit Elsewhere: in substance, the article is considered less suitable and suggested to be submitted to another journal
  5. Decline Submission: The article is rejected by the reviewer to be reviewed for two reasons: (1) the reviewer rejects because of a reason (not related to article substances), and then the article is sent to another reviewer. (2) A rejected article in substance is considered less suitable to be published in the journal.
